Dr. Cleophus Price began service to UKFCU as a member of the Supervisory Committee in 2014 and was selected to serve on the Board in 2018. He has been a member of the credit union since 1995. Cleo received his BA from Northeast Louisiana University; MPA from Southern Illinois University in 1993; Doctor of Education from UK in December 2005. He has also served in the U. S. Army for 10 years and departed in the rank of captain. Cleo teaches UK 101 (1st Year Students Academic Success course) in the fall and has also taught a number of African American Studies classes at UK and EKU. He currently serves as Assistant Dean in the Graduate School @ University of Kentucky (UK) where he leads a team of 4 student affairs professionals. The office is responsible for auditing master and doctoral student files as they prepare to ‘sit’ for examinations and degree certifications for master, specialist, and doctoral students. They also award graduate candidates degrees!!! Then, in 2016, Dr. Price was appointed to serve as the Diversity and Inclusion Officer for the Graduate School and his new job allows him to recruit prospective underrepresented minority (URM) graduate students and also assist in the development of programs and events to help retain URM graduate students. In his spare time, Cleo volunteers at his church and with various agencies in Lexington who are involved in feeding and housing the homeless. Other hobbies are walking with his wife, bike riding, listening to jazz music, and encouraging others to be and do their best. Currently, Dr. Price works with a group of AA men who are serving as mentors for middle school males at Crawford Middle School. His wife, Sonja, is a full professor in the College of Education and most recently, was appointed as the VP for Diversity and Inclusion at UK and they have two daughters, both attending college in Atlanta, GA.
