UKFCU Expands Charter to Include Fayette County Public Schools

(Lexington, KY) – The University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union (UKFCU) is proud to announce the expansion of its charter to include Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) as a Select Employer Group (SEG). The UKFCU Board of Directors announced that beginning September 29th, 2025, all FCPS employees and students will become eligible for membership at UKFCU. 

This milestone builds on a partnership that has been years in the making. In 2020, UKFCU and Fayette County Public Schools joined forces with a shared commitment to make financial education more accessible and equitable. That collaboration led to the opening of the first-ever in-school credit union branch in Fayette County at Frederick Douglass High School—an initiative that paired classroom instruction with hands-on experience to bring financial literacy to life for students.

The opening of the Tates Creek High School Branch in late 2025 will further illustrate this vision. Originally initiated to provide membership opportunities for Tates Creek students, conversations with FCPS leaders expanded the initiative to include the entire district. As a result, all FCPS employees and students will enjoy the benefits of UKFCU membership, along with specialized financial education opportunities for students.

Through this collaboration, UKFCU is extending its full range of financial products and services to Fayette County Public Schools students and employees. Offerings include checking and savings accounts, low-rate loans, credit cards, and financial planning resources—all designed to support the unique needs of both students beginning their financial journey and employees working toward long-term goals.

This partnership ensures the FCPS community has convenient access to competitive rates, trusted guidance, and personalized service. By making these resources available, UKFCU reaffirms its commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening the financial well-being of the entire FCPS community.
